Mood Trajectories and Outcomes Lab

mood@bwh.harvard.edu

In later life, individuals with mood disorder often experience a decline in function and cognition.  Individuals with a history of depression are twice as likely to develop dementia as those without a history of depression.  Our goal is to understand the biological mechanisms underlying a poor illness trajectory in order to develop treatment and prevention strategies.  We are utilizing high field 7.0 Tesla neuroimaging to assess changes in bran chemistry and functioning related to illness trajectory in mood disorders.
